Founded in 1888, they altogether form a Museum of the Territory, as they gather the historical, archaeological, ethnographic and naturalistic collections of the Lecco territory.
There are three separated seats: Villa Manzoni, Palazzo Belgiojoso e Torre Viscontea.

Villa Manzoni: Residence of the Manzoni family for more than two centuries, it was sold in 1818 by the writer Alessandro Manzoni,  who had spent there his childhood and adolescence.

The building houses: the Museo Manzoniano on the ground floor,  in which rooms is kept the original Alessandro Manzoni’s furniture, the Municipal Art Gallery that exhibits works of artists from Lecco from the 16th to the 20th century, the Photo Library and the Historical Archives of the Comune of Lecco.

Palazzo Belgiojoso: Partician villa of the 18th century, it hosts the Archaeological museum, one of the oldest museums of Natural History of Lombardy with materials coming from the whole province of Lecco from the Mid Paleolithic to the Early Middle Ages, and the Museum of Contemporary History, whose first two rooms were opened in April 2001.
